The Most Famous Legends about Siamese Cats
There are many fascinating legends about Siamese cats that make this breed so special. In order to really get to know everything there is to know about Siamese cats, here are some of the most famous legends exist:

The creation of the Siamese cat was associated to Noah’s Ark saga
The legend says that the animals in the ark were bored during the long voyage, and they tried to find ways to reduce the boredom. The first Siamese cat was brought to the world after the ape fell in love with the lioness and mate with her. It was said that he had the character of the ape and the courage of the lioness.

The original Siamese cat had crossed eyes and a kinked tail
The legend says that when the men of Siam left their home to defend their kingdom, two Siamese cats, one male (Tien) and one female (Chula), were left to guard the Buddha’s sacred temple and it's golden goblet. One day, Tien left in order to find a priest to watch over the temple, and Chula was left alone. She felt enormous responsibility for the golden goblet, and did not take her eyes away from it, until finally her eyes got crossed. About the kinked tail, the legend says that Chula also wrapped her tail around the goblet’s handle very tight, which caused the kink. From that day on, all of Chula’s kittens were born with crossed eyes and a kinked tail.

The legend says that when the princesses and the ladies of the Siamese court were taking a bath, they put their rings on the Siamese cat’s tails. Later on, the Siamese developed a kink in their tails which prevented the rings from falling.

The Siamese cat’s blue eyes are a gift from the Gods
The Siamese cats defended the temple altars in Siam from invaders. The success was so enormous, that the priests, who wanted to show their gratitude, prayed devoutly to the Gods. The Gods rewarded the Siamese cats with blue eyes to enhance their beauty.

Siamese cats received the soul of a high rank person when he died
Siamese cats were the guardians of the temples in ancient Siam. The legend says that when a high rank person died, his soul passed on to a Siamese cat. That Siamese was no longer a guardian. Instead, he was being sent to one of the temples to enjoy luxury and top quality food for the rest of his life, having monks and priests as his servants.
